Rebuffed by Yahoo, Microsoft buys a search engine
$100 million buys MS a 'semantic search engine'. But will it work?
The search engine, Powerset, supposedly 'understands' the meaning of phrases as you type. Artificial intelligence is certainly the search business' holy grail, but has Microsoft found it, or struck fool's gold?
We personally don't think AI is here yet. We think MS is grasping at straws, and has more money than discernment. It's easy to be fooled where AI is concerned.
