Spectacular imagery of New Orleans flooding
Images, listed from most recent to least recent: Poetic New Orleans imagery emerges after the storm • A terrific, street-level tour: Slideshow with commentary • Flickr slideshow • Great collection of AP images (highly recommended) • Daily images from NOLA.com here and here (highly recommended, and always current) • CNN's current video clips • Satellite images (1) and (2) • Aerial shots • (most recent audio) WalMart beat the Feds / Evacuation Speeds Up / Congress Offers $10 Billion, and Criticism / A Panorama of Desperation and Destruction / Bush Surveys Damage, Promises More Aid / Baton Rouge Takes In Katrina Evacuees, and Weathering the Flood at the Superdome. How to help: American Red Cross, Catholic Charities (New Orleans is heavily Catholic, so this group has a lot of resources on the ground), the Humane Society (animals are victims as well), the Salvation Army (the kind of charity that quietly does the thankless long-haul kind of work that situations such as this require). We are big believers in the ability of established, reputable and efficient charities to make the difference in times of crisis. They need our help.
