After 9/11

After-9_11-documentary
Our After 9/11 site and video clip are now online. Immediately after the WTC tragedy, we became interested in documenting the healing process, and started haunting the NYC public spaces where art and shrines were being left on the streets. Eventually we combined the found art - and found music - into a 40-minute documentary. We've now placed a few minutes of it on a simple memorial web site.

What we hope to accomplish is twofold:

(1) Remember the event this year, with some rarely-seen historical material. (The documentary, After 9/11: Remembrance & Renewal, was shown publicly only once, during the first 9/11 anniversary.)

(2) Find and establish relationships with partners interested in putting this before a wider audience. We feel this documentary has many potential uses. It could be incorporated into planned 9/11 memorials and museums, or it could be an instructional tool for educational institutions.

{UPDATE: One reader submitted the following question. If anyone has further information on it, or on any new sources of 9/11 materials, we'd appreciate hearing from you.

"A question....I have often thought of something beautiful I heard the Christmas after 9/11 on our local radio several times. I don't know if it was national. It was something sung, I believe, over snatches of sirens and screams and FDNY radio dispatches, etc. Sound familiar? I wondered if you came across it in your compilation of items for this project.

Best wishes again,

(The documentary consists of hundreds of still images, shown 'Ken Burns style'. We took many of them ourselves, others were donated, and some are owned by professional photographers who will be compensated as necessary if the film goes into distribution. A few of the images are shown below - click to enlarge.)
