The Manolo, he loves the capitalism!
Re our earlier post on The Manolo: The Lover of the Shoes got a bit of publicity in the Philadelphia Inquirer (link requires signup) today, and did something that's unusual for him. He wrote a bit about The Making of the Buck in BlogMarketing. He handled brilliantly the delicate balance requiring complete honesty (no getting around the fact that the site is commercial-driven) and keeping his somewhat goofy, mock-Italiano fashionista personna intact. (He sagely deflected direct questions regarding the marketing aspects of his site by referring the Inquirer interviewer to, um, Mr. Snitch. This means we have to get to work and set up the blog marketing site we've been toying with...) The Manolo even takes advantage of the moment by posting a message thanking a couple of his advertisers (probably a couple he was having trouble working in elsewhere). This blog really is a shining example of things to come in this vein, but few will ever do it this well. Has this blog really only been around since last October? As with all great ideas, it seems as if The Manolo has always been with us. (More Manolo fallout, and further adventures in Blogmarketing.)
{UPDATE: We get many hits for "Manolo Blank", and this is one spelling the search engines aren't providing a "Did you mean..." option for. So we will: Did you mean Manolo Blahnik?}
{UPDATE 2: ProBlogger mentions us. We keep getting traffic on this subject, so let's mention that anyone who wishes to discuss this "blogmarketing" further should email us at mistersnitch@hotmail.com}
